#SNPWALKOUT

In an extraordinary day of parliamentary drama, Scottish National Party MPS staged a walk out of the House of Commons chamber. The move came after their leader, Ian Blackford, was removed from the Commons for the rest of the day by Speaker John Bercow following a protest over how the Brexit debate was conducted. @Akmaciver said: “This will be pretty effective by the #snp. Their power-grab line, in truth, wasn’t setting the heather alight here, at least not in the way they’d have wished. This’ll give that line far more exposure, at least for a while. #snpwalkout.” @Mattforde observed: “Hilarious watching the SNP walk out of #PMQS. It’s the sort of stunt lowlevel opposition groups on backwater councils usually dream up.” @Kennyf1283 argued: “‘Not a stunt...’ Please. Be real. This is the stuff Salmond used to do decades ago when the SNP were on the sidelines starved of political oxygen. This was a circus act. More akin to a student demo than a party of government.” @Michaelpdeacon joked: “Rewatching the SNP stunt. Particularly enjoy Joanna Cherry glaring at Tories while snapping, ‘FUNNY, IS IT? IS IT FUNNY? IS IT FUNNY?’ like a Scottish Joe Pesci.”

#2026WORLDCUP

As preparations conclude for the 2018 World Cup that kicks off in Russia tomorrow, FIFA announced its first tournament to have three hosts. The 2026 edition of the tournament, the first to feature 48 teams instead of 32, will take place in Canada, Mexico, and the USA. @Landondonovan wrote: “Just woke up to the news that the 2026 World Cup is coming to North America !!!!! Congrats to everyone who put in the tireless work to make it happen. How are we supposed to wait eight more years?!” @Mrmarksteel joked: “Fifa have slipped up, they should have awarded the 2026 World Cup to somewhere even more nuts than Qatar, like the Vatican, or the Arctic Ocean, or on a comet, or the Cheltenham branch of IKEA.” @Holbers predicted: “Right choice for 2026 World Cup. No doubt Scotland will still fail to qualify despite the tournament extension.”
