Vow architect now supports independence
The newspaper editor, who orchestrated the more powers “vow” during the 2014 referendum, has revealed he now supports independence.
Murray Foote, the ex-editor of the Daily Record, was responsible for its front page backed by David Cameron and other UK leaders which promised a beefedup Scottish Parliament in the event of a No vote.
In a newspaper column yesterday, Mr Foote said Brexit had made him change his mind on the independence question, and the UK government had shown “blatant contempt” for devolution. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said his change of heart was “hugely significant”.
