#SNPMEMBERSHIP Nicola Sturgeon revealed that the SNP had seen a surge of membership of around 5,000 after the party’s MPS walked out of the House of Commons this week.

@Gerryhassan posted: “Lots of comment on @ thesnp membership surge has said they are now the second largest membership party in UK. FACT: SNP have been 2nd largest party for ages; Tories 124,000 March 2018 figs not verifiable; real Tory membership many studies have shown 70,000: nearly half SNP.”

@Franceslumden wrote: “Having let my membership with Scottish Greens slip (my bad), I have decided to join the SNP because we need to get as many people in the party and go for Indyref 2. Enough is enough Westminster.”

@Barrygreig16 tweeted: “I’m considering it too. What other options are there? I’ll never vote Tory and the main opposition are doing their best not to oppose.”

@Davieclegg reported: “On SNP membership surge: Press release invites us to add 5k to the 118k members they had in April and conclude they’re close to UK Tories (124k) but despite being able to say precisely

how many new members in last 24hrs (5085) they are very cagey about their exact number today.”

#ODSONNEEDOUARD

On the day that the SPFL Premiership fixtures were released yesterday, champions Celtic stole all the headlines by announcing they had signed Odsonne Edouard for a club record fee.

@Rossmccaff posted: “Big marquee signing to excite the fans, Edouard is still young and showed flashes of real brilliance during his loan spell. Biggest transfer in Celtic’s history according to the press release. No figure on it but that means more than £6m. Figure of £9m was bandied about. Shows just how far they are ahead of the rest of the league.”

@Mrowley94 reasoned: “Rodgers said he was the best young player he’s worked with, huge money for Celtic to pay and not be 100% confident they will see a return. Time will tell I guess but happy to have signed him. Hope we can keep Griff and Dembele now!” @Carljunglebhoy wrote: “Any Celtic fan questioning £9m in today’s market for a 20 y.o from PSG that Brendan Rodgers thinks is ‘one of the best young players I’ve ever worked with’ needs to get real.”
