Glasgow Jazz Festival

JAZZ

Glasgow’s longest running arts festival whizzes by in four all-tooshort days, so step to it. Highlights include Mr Jukes’ opening concert at the Old Fruitmarket, the Georgie Fame Family Trio and Orchestre Poly-rhythmo in the same venue on successive nights, evergreen singer/ guitarist George Benson, above, the irrespressible Geno Washington, British-bahraini trumpeter Yazz Ahmed and Laura Jurd’s Mercury Prize-nominated ensemble Dinosaur, but it is also well worth taking a trip down into the Blue Arrow basement for some late night contemporary jazz action. See feature, page 27 Various venues, Glasgow, 20-24 June, www.jazzfest.co.uk
