Order of the Garter: Queen and Royal Family attend service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor

The Queen leaves St George’s Chapel after attending the Most Noble Order of the Garter Ceremony in Windsor Castle in Wind sor, west of London, yesterday.

The Order of the Garter is the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain, establishe­d by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago. Windsor Castle’s grounds were graced by garter knights, who then made their way into St George’s Chapel wearing ceremonial robes. The appointmen­t of the new garter knights took place during the service.
