Holyrood frights
Ian Gibson (Letters, 15 June) asks how much it costs to run the Scottish Parliament, I can tell him. Accounts have shown that it costs taxpayers £72 million a year to run the Scottish Parliament, which amounts to almost £200,000 a day.
Further, the Scottish Parliament building cost taxpayers £414 million, ten times over budget, and completion was three years late. It is largely forgotten that the old Royal High School Building had already been kitted out as a parliament building with its main hall fit to provide an excellent and elegant debating chamber.
The time has come to dismantle the whole rapacious petty little organisation, the costs of which far outweighs any benefits, if indeed any exist; is constant stoking of grievances against England and Westminster regarded as a benefit?
