Fighting talk

The Scottish Government has raised the alarm over military bases in Scotland after a Commons committee report warned that Britain’s armed forces need a significant hike in funding to fill “black holes” in their finances. With the constant threat of independence, the MOD would be wise to start withdrawing all service personnel from Scotland, unless the SNP take the referendum off the table, which is highly unlikely.

Enough is Enough Naw, the Tattoo wouldn’t be the same.

Berlin Calling Total irony of this is obviously lost on Brown, Nats want indy... yet as of now want their share of defence spending for Scotland!

Toup Must be so confusing being a sep. On the one hand don’t want to be “riled by the so-called English masters” and on the other hand bleating when the British Army reduces the number of bases. Their little brains must be hurting!

lux_1 Why would the MOD want to invest heavily in Scottish bases whilst the daily threats of indymince continue?

Reality Demands to be Heard Agree, that is the simple brutal truth. The SNP grievance policy with the WG cannot reap dividends for Scotland, how can you work progressively with an organisation that wants to break away.

David This is not a devolved matter and the SNP interests are pretty tangential to those of the UK. Moreover, I am sure Keith Brown is a fine chap but he must have left the Marines as a 24-yearold Marine or junior NCO to pursue his interest in politics so let us not be overstating his expertise or experience in higher level defence planning.

Callumity If Keith Brown is working on breaking up the UK, why is he wittering on about the UK armed forces in Scotland? They will be soon gone if he gets his way.
