Laszlo brings two goalkeepers to Tannadice
0 Csaba Laszlo: Double signing. Dundee United have completed a double signing by snapping up goalkeepers Benjamin Siegrist and Matej Rakovan.
Siegrist spent seven years at Aston Villa earlier in his career and the imposing 6ft 5in keeper has played for Switzerland at every level up to under-21. The 26-year-old, a winner of the “Golden Glove” for his part in his country’s triumph at the Under-17 World Cup in 2009, has signed a twoyear deal after spending the last two years with Vaduz in Liechtenstein.
Rakovan, a former Slovakia under-21 internationalist, will join from Czech side FC Vysocina Jihlava when his contract expires tomorrow.
The 28-year-old has also signed a two-year deal to provide more competition in the Tangerines squad for Deniz Mehmet, who agreed fresh terms earlier this summer.
Manager Csaba Laszlo, who has also agreed a deal to sign Austrian midfielder Christoph Rabitsch and has been linked with the capture of out-of-contract Dunfermline captain Callum Morris, said: “Benjamin comes to Dundee United with a very good pedigree and is a large presence with good hands. I see him as a potential No 1 alongside another goalkeeper.
“I am delighted to welcome Matej to the club. He has come through the excellent goalkeeping schools of Slovakia and the Czech Republic and is experienced at the top level.
“He has had offers from other clubs and I am very pleased he has chosen us as he is ideally suited to the Scottish game.”
