Back from the dead: Victorian mausoleum to undergo restoration job from local volunteers
SOUTH AYRSHIRE
The Monteath Douglas Mausoleum, near Ancrum in the Borders, is to undergo a £129,000 restoration at the hands of local volunteers.
The money, provided by grants, will allow the 19th century building to be restored to its former glory. The tomb of General Sir Thomas Monteath Douglas (1788-1868), the mausoleum was abandoned in 1964 after the death of the last family member.
