UNHRC is biased
There are some things the present United States administration under President Donald Trump gets very wrong. But in other matters they are decidedly in the right. That is the case in the example of the US withdrawal from the United nations human rights Council.
This organisation which, strangely for the UN, does not allow a veto for its members, has voted through mandatory reviews of alleged Israeli human rights violations at every session they hold.
These reviews, pushed through by countries whose standards of fairness are questionable and who treat the sexuality of their minorities and even women with utter and sometimes violent contempt, apply only to Israel.
They are discriminatory and blatantly unfair, and it is hypocritical in the extreme to enforce these reviews on Israel alone. Trump has got this one right and the UK and the rest of the world should follow suit. ALEXANDER MCKAY New Cut Rigg, Edinburgh
