Father crushed in industrial accident

A 47-year-old father has been crushed in a tragic industrial accident in Dalkeith.

Andrew Darling was demonstrating a crusher machine, which is used to squash stone and concrete, to staff at Dalkeith firm Neil Williams Haulage Ltd when the horror incident occurred.

The Bonnyrigg man is believed to have been crushed in front of around six traumatised witnesses at Mayfield Industrial Estate at 1:55pm on Wednesday. A metal plate fell on the former Newbattle High School pupil’s chest.
