Tram revenues exceed forecasts

-

Edinburgh’s tramline saw “fantastic results” last year, with profits that far exceeded forecasts.

Results published today show revenue grew by 24 per cent in 2017 and the number of customer journeys was up by 19 per cent to 6.6 million.

The service recorded a pretax operating profit of £1.6 million.

Edinburgh City Council had forecast it would bring in just £333,000 post-tax.

The first year of profit for the tramline came in 2016 – one year ahead of schedule.
