Ruth’s truths

-

Ruth Davidson’s article on the NHS was remarkable on many different levels (Perspective, 20 June). If I read it correctly she, as leader of the opposition in Scotland wants the UK Government to raise taxes to increase spending on the NHS in England. An entirely laudable stance for a Westminster government to take vis-a-vis the English NHS, in my view.

However, is this the same Ruth Davidson who, just a few short months ago, opposed the Scottish Government putting up taxes in Scotland in order to fund the Scottish NHS ?

Why, on this and so many other issues, does the leader of the opposition make so many contradictory statements for political expediency – often within a matter of months – rather than display a clearly defined set of core principles?

The only consistent thing about Ruth Davidson is her inconsistency!
