Divers step up Thai cave search

Rescuedivershavestepped up their search in a cave in northern Thaland for 12 boys and their football coach who went missing more than a week ago.

A team led by Thai navy divers pushed through a kilometre-long chamber to a passageway that could lead to the missing boys, age 11 to 16 and their 25-year old coach.

They became trapped in the Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai province after football practice on 23 June when flooding caused by heavy rain.

The divers’ goal is to get to Pattaya Beach which has a higher elevation and authorities hope the 13 missing took shelter there.
