Oban taste first cup success in 13 years

Oban Camanachd lifted the Scottish Sea Farms Glasgow Celtic Society Cup after defeating Kyles Athletic 2-0 in the final at Taynuilt.

It was a first senior success since 2005 for the Oban side and they started well with Andrew Maccuish scoring on 12 and 33 minutes. Kyles, who had defender Andrew King sent off with 30 minutes remaining, came into it in the second half but weren’t able to break down a determined Oban defence which included 15-year-old Daniel Sloss.

Lovat and Kinlochshi­el will meet in the Artemis Macaulay Cup semi-finals.

Lovat defeated Glenurquha­rt 5-0 at Balgate. Duncan Davidson and Marc Maclachlan both hit doubles with Graeme macmillan getting the other.

Finlay Macrae’s 69thminute goal gave Kinlochshi­el a 1-0 win over Kingussie.

Fort William moved to within a point of Marine Harvest National Division leaders Kilmallie after they beat Beauly 6-0. The damage was done in the first half with Jack Fraser, Arran Macphee’s double, Greig Kelly and JD Macmaster making it 5-0. Lachie Shaw netted in the second half.

Glasgow Mid Argyll’s match against Kilmallie at Yoker was postponed.
