Spray paint vandalism at abbey
Vandals broke into Arbroath Abby and caused major damage to the stonework with spray paint.
They are thought to have used external scaffolding between 5pm on Tuesday and 7am yesterday to gain access, which police said is “highly dangerous”.
Historic Scotland said removing the paint could take over a week and cost well into four figures.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We would be particularly interested to hear from any parents whose children have come home in the evenings with paint on their clothes or smelling of solvent.”
