SNP MPS were “plain mean” in preventing Commons staff from watching England’s World Cup knock-out clash with Colombia on Tuesday, Tory MP Andrea Leadsom claimed yesterday. @Caomhanmacandra commented: “That’s a shame. It’s a pity we didn’t hear @andrealeadsom complain so much when her wobbly PM decided to railroad Scotland into Brexit to save her party’s ego and self-interest” @Mrfurby observed: “Maybe the Leader of the House could reform Parliament so the hours of work are family friendly? Or at least more normal? Maybe Andrea Leadsom could raise this with whoever that is...” @malowe19 said: “Whose job is it to plan and set the timetable for debates and votes? Oh let me think: the Leader of the House, Andrea Leadsom! How mean is she for making them do their job instead of skivving off to watch football?” @patq67 offered: “You’re there to work for the people who voted you in – not spend your time watching football. So dry your eyes – or go get a real job, where you won’t be able to watch anything as you will be too busy working like the rest of us”

#NHSSCOT70

The National Health Service has celebrated the 70th anniversary of its founding on 5 July 1948, with members of the public posting tributes to the NHS in Scotland. @Mareetoddmsp commented; “It was a pleasure and a privilege to work for @Nhshighland for 20 years, and of course, the NHS has been there for me & mine when we have needed it. It’s an amazing and precious thing” @Shirleyrogers01 said : “Happy birthday #NHSSCOT70 and thanks a million to all the people, past and present, who have made it such a fabulous part of our nation” @Thomascarthur offered: “The #NHS saved my brother who was born prematurely nearly 30 years ago and they saved my brother who had a brain haemorrhage last year. To all those who, like my own parents, work or have worked in our health service: thank you @Nhshighland noted: “First state-provided health service in the world was in place for 30yrs before the NHS – the Highlands & Islands Medical Service started in 1913 with an annual grant of £42K”
