Leave the driving to the professionals

Arange of transport options are available for spectators, who are urged to make travel plans in advance and stick to organised routes, as they make their way to see some of golf ’s biggest stars in action.

Following the success of the 2015 event at Gullane, the same transport plan will be adopted to ensure that the expected 50,000 fans can effectively plan their journeys, while avoiding congestion in the town.

Fans are being encouraged to take advantage of the free park and ride services on offer from the public car park at Muirfield Fields or the free shuttle service operated by East Coast Buses from North Berwick railway station.

There is no public car park at the course itself. For more information on the park and ride and shuttle services, visit www.asiscottishopen.com/ travel/

Specific routes have also been identified to ensure as little disruption as possible to both Gullane residents and those travelling to and from the event. These routeings bring spectators to the public car park from the east, and therefore avoid congestion in Gullane.

Members of the public who are not attending the Scottish Open should also try, where possible, to find alternative routes and avoid the A198 through Gullane in particular. The key points from the transport plan are: l There is no public parking at Gullane Golf Club. l There will be a complimentary shuttle bus from the public car park at Muirfield Fields to the course. For more information, visit www.asiscottishopen.com/ travel/ l Visitors not attending the tournament should avoid using the A198 as this could cause significant delays. l Scotrail will operate a regular train service from Edinburgh to North Berwick. A free shuttle service operated by East Coast Buses will operate from North Berwick railway station. For rail bookings and timetables visit www.scotrail.co.uk l Those travelling by car should use the A1 and exit at the Oak Tree Junction at Haddington. l Temporary traffic signals will be in place at the junction of West Links Road and Main Street in Gullane. l Anyone using the A7 and A68 should follow signs to Haddington via the A6093 and then follow the appropriate AA signs. l There will be a “shoppers” car park at the north end of East Links Road to facilitate everyday access in Gullane. Maximum stay is one hour. Rory Colville, the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open Championship director, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming over 50,000 fans to Gullane Golf Club to see a world-class field in action.

“We have once again adopted the successful plan from our last tournament here in 2015, to make the journey to the course as smooth as possible for travelling fans and minimise disruption for local residents.

“We would encourage travelling fans to follow our guidance to make their own journey as simple as possible and assist the local community.”

0 Free shuttle buses will go from North Berwick station to Gullane.
