What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

A pair of fuchsia Prada shoes. They’re elegant and sexy but have got quite a low heel, as I like to run around on stage.

What are you addicted to buying?

Anything black, though I do like to rework various pieces – add new buttons, fringing, sequins or a bit of bling.

Best ever bargain?

I found a dress by the designer Sue Wong in a thrift store for $3.

Who has great style?

I love the hippy dippy but comfortable style of Stevie Nicks. I’m also a fan of Drew Barrymore’s look. We’re both Eighties kids and I think that was a time of individuality.

Name your favourite high street shop.

We didn’t have Topshop in the US for long time, so it always felt special to visit it when I was in the UK.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

Way too many. I especially remember going to the Video Music Awards in New Orleans. I got dressed up in a feather bustier and everyone else was in jeans and T-shirts. I was horrified and kept plucking my feathers out.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

The black cape my father bought for me when I was 12 years old. n
