Rembrandt: Britain’s Discovery of the Master

- Susan Mansfield

The summer blockbuster at NGS is a show exclusive to Edinburgh, telling, for the first time, the story of how Rembrandt has been collected in Britain. Rembrandt-mania swept the country in the 18th century, with British collectors snapping up paintings, drawings and prints faster than anyone else. Retrieved from all over the world for this exhibition, these works allow us to see a unique collection of works by The Master, here on our own doorstep.
