Simpson powers to Switzerland win
ATHLETICS: Robbie Simpson took victory at the Zermatt Marathon in Switzerland yesterday in his first outing at the distance since landing bronze at the Commonwealth Games.
The 26-year-old Scot, who is skipping next month’s European Championships, was 16 minutes clear of his nearest rival in winning in three hours and 39 seconds.
Meanwhile, Scottish prospect Kane Elliott struck gold at the European Under-18 Championships in Gyor. The Falkirk Victoria teenager pulled out a late sprint to win the 1500 metres in 3:55.26.
