It’s a stroll in the park for Motherwell but Hamilton suffer setback at Clyde
Motherwell enjoyed the second win of their pre-season programme with a 5-1 Sunday afternoon stroll at the Blackwell Meadows home of Vanarama League North side Darlington.
The Fir Park men raced into a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to Cedric Kipre’s tap-in, Danny Johnston’s volley and Allan Campbell’s strike. The Quakers pulled a goal back through Harvey Saunders before Ryan Bowman chipped in the fourth and James Scott’s last-minute strike.
Hamilton manager Martin Canning was not overly concerned by Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Clyde where David Goodwillie’s first-half double earned the Bully Wee their win.
He explained: “It was a working exercise. We are nine days into pre-season and the boys were given a good ‘doing’ on Friday so the result was not the important thing.”
Falkirk saw off Airdrie 3-2 with Deimantas Petravicius and Kevin O’hara having the Bairns two ahead before Chris O’neil pulled a goal back. Tom Dallison made it 3-1 at halftime with Leighton Mcintosh grabbing Airdrie’s second.
Dunfermline Athletic went down 4-0 at home to Tranmere Rovers with Larnell Cole, Amadou Soukouna, Danny Walker-rice and Nick Long on target. Inverness Caley Thistle defeated neighbours Clachnacuddin 3-1 with Nathan Austin scoring twice and Daniel Mackay also finding the net.
