#BORISJOHNSON

Boris Johnson quit as Foreign Secretary yesterday. Johnson, who backed Brexit, was unhappy at the deal that had been struck by the Prime Minister and Cabinet on the UK’S future relationship with the EU.

@Tomcopley commented: “Boris Johnson is one of the most malignant forces in British politics. He’s a grubby charlatan who’s demeaned every office he’s ever held.”

@Casparsalmon agreed: “Boris Johnson is a racist and a disgrace, who has shamed himself and us. I wish him nothing but the worst in the self-serving set of cheap manoeuvres he passes off as a career.”

@Davidlammy added: “Don’t let anyone fool you, Boris Johnson and David Davis are not principled. They are the two cowardly captains who take the first lifeboat to safety, as the rest of Britain continues full-steam ahead into the oncoming iceberg of Brexit.”

@Pennyred posted: “This country has been wrecked by the playground rivalry between two lying, selfserving, mediocre old Etonians and held hostage to a handful of swivel-eyed Tory jingoists throwing a tantrum because they

lost the empire.”

#BREXITSHAMBLES

Meanwhile, Twitter was ablaze with criticism of how negotiations with the EU are being handled. Prime Minister Theresa May made a statement in the House of Commons and tried to fight off opposition barbs. @Tim_mc_garry suggested: “It’s official. England now more likely to win the World Cup than leave the EU.” @Danhayes16 said: “Reminder that all this happened because @Ed_ Miliband looked a bit weird eating a sandwich.”

#THAICAVERESCUE

The efforts by rescuers to save the lives of 12 young footballers and their coach has captured international attention.

@vodkamuffin said: “Just read about the water pumped out of the cave flooding nearby farms, instead of being angry the poor farmers said ‘we can harvest next time, we need to save 13 lives now’. And nothing restored my faith in humanity better than this.” @Moffatsamora thinks: “If you are not following the #Thaicaverescue story, you are missing a story of true human resilience, courage and optimism and it is amazing.”
