What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

I bought an amazing Forties wide brimmed hat in inky black. I feel like a fashionable sexy witch.

What are you addicted to buying?

Hats, Bakelite and shoes.

Best ever bargain?

I bought 10 dresses dated from the Twenties to the Fifties for $50. They were all plus size measurements too. (I’m a curvy gal).

Who has great style?

Can I admire Betty Boop? Musically, it’s Etta James.

Name your favourite high street shop.

My favourite shop on Edinburgh’s High Street has nothing to do with fashion, only my mental health – the Fudge Kitchen. My go to stores for shopping are Fabhatrix and Armstrong’s vintage in the Grassmarket.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

The Eighties for me was a whole decade of disaster. However, I’ve also had some fashion issues with vintage seams coming apart. One time I was on stage and I lifted my leg while performing a kind of stomp like movement. My heel got caught in my hem and wouldn’t budge, so I had to perform with one leg bent for the WHOLE SONG. I also once had half of my wig come off during a performance. Lord help me.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

I have so many favourites, though since it’s summer, I would say my Alfred Shaheen collection of dresses. They’re mostly for casual outings, but their iconic prints make me smile. n
