Stewed Rhubarb: Past and Present

Tuesday 24 July, 7pm, (£10/£8) After a period of quiet, pamphlet publisher Stewed Rhubarb returns, moving now into publishing books. They begin by rescuing two acclaimed debuts, by Harry Giles and Rachel Mccrum, which were in danger of disappearing after their publisher went bust. Giles and Mccrum will read on the night alongside Jenny Lindsay and Hannah Lavery, while musician Kirsty Law provides music.

The Slaminals of Farthing Wood

Friday 27 July, 7pm, (£7/£5) Prepare yourself for a slam unlike any other. Threatened by the return of the Festival, Edinburgh’s poets must fight to survive. A combination of Watership Down and The Hunger Games, the poets perform different rounds, with those eliminated horribly killed (not really). The most original poetry event in Edinburgh in July, The Slaminals of Farthing Wood will be funny, provocative and unforgettable.

Pimms, Pamphlets and Periodicals

Saturday 28 July, 12pm-4pm, free Book lovers! We’re hosting a poetry fair showcasing magazines, pamphlets, full collections, chapbooks, cards, postcards, poetry artwork and CDS. There will be a number of stalls run by sellers and exhibitors inside the library and out on our mezzanine terrace if the weather lets us. If not, we shall huddle inside and provide free Pimms and lemonade, soft drinks and nibbles.
