Race against time: Indian rescuers battle to find survivors after major building collapse

A massive emergency operation is under way in India after a six-storey building that was under constructi­on collapsed.

More than 200 rescue workers were using steel cutters, drills, radar and life detectors in a bid to free people feared trapped under the rubble. Dog squads have also been helping in the search.

It’s unclear how many may have died in the disaster, which occurred in a village outside Delhi, but at least three bodies have been recovered so far.
