#ALEXFERGUSON

Manchester United and Aberdeen legend Alex Ferguson, who suffered a brain haemorrhage earlier this year, has thanked medical staff in a video released by the club.

@laythy29 tweeted: “Good to see that Sir Alex Ferguson is on the mend. Despite the rivalry between Arsenal and Manchester United which was intense at times he is a true legend of the game and deserves nothing but respect for his achievements, passion and his sheer love of the game”

@dan_cancian summed it up simply: “Fergie, what a man.”

@ind_thought posted: “Delighted to see you back healthy, Sir Alex Ferguson. I look forward to seeing you cheer on our team from the stands this season.”

#SCOTRAIL

Passengers have been threatened with “massive” disruption by Scotrail workers who are to be balloted for industrial action over pay disparity. @THE_SSP_ tweeted: “Solidarity with the @RMT_ Scotland action! If stopping overtime means disruption to service, there are not enough workers to keep it running optimally. A fair ‘rest day’ & overtime agreement should be won for hardworking @Scotrail staff.”

@lauraannham added: “I’ve decided that @Scotrail’s employees are actually undermining the system to ensure the nationalisation of the railways. Late trains? Staff blocking ticket barriers? Trapped on a train for ages? All part of the plan”

@Michaelcunnin20 posted: “Can we hurry up and renationalise the railways.

@Scotrail are an absolute joke.”

#REFUGEES

Syrian refugees in Scotland have been found to be happier and better supported than in England.

@John_knocks said: “Most social attitude surveys point to England and Scotland sharing the same feelings towards immigration. I’m not sure how having 70% of Syrian refugees living in a state-funded life in Scotland is a success over 40% in England?”

@Benblog_42 added: “I mean, it makes sense. Scotland welcomes immigrants with open arms. England sends them a message of exclusion.” Englishman @micknffc wasn’t happy: “Do they get even more benefits in Scotland then?”
