Divided we fall?

-

Theresa May challenged the Scottish Government to get behind her Brexit proposals, instead of trying to “sow the politics of division”. The Prime Minister insisted all parts of the United Kingdom should support the Chequers deal, agreed by the cabinet on Britain’s departure from the European Union.

What part of Scotland wants absolutely nothing to do with Brexit don’t you people get? We have a much better future in mind for our children, so good luck with that postbrexit fascist state thing but Scotland has a much better, brighter future we want to create instead of being dragged over a cliff edge in some ridiculous suicide pact. Why is Brexit better than independence exactly ?

Brexit is also considered “independence” and a number of Scottish independence voters also voted for Brexit for the same principle of leaving a political union.

Robert Meechan

No. Brexit is the rise of right-wing, racist, Empire-glorifying fools with extremely short memories and with a political ignorance who are manipulated by the rightwing media and self-serving Tory politicians spouting lies about immigration and a false £350m. Scottish independence bares no similarity or connection to Brexit and cannot be described in anyway like it. The Scottish Independence movement encourages hope, potential and self-governing accountability, whilst being welcoming and inclusive and recognising the importance of a multi-cultural society.

There are a lot of people in Scotland that would choose being an EU member state over a political union with England outside of the EU. I’m an English person living in Scotland right now. If it’s a choice between Scottish independence alongside EU membership and Brexit Britain, I know which I would be voting. However, I wouldn’t vote for Scottish independence under any other circumstances.

Theresa is living in fantasy land. Unfortunately her lack of any coherent Brexit plan is becoming a nightmare for Scotland.

Paul Burgess

I think it’s obvious that the First Minister wants anything other than no deal, so she would be backing a sensible deal. May also needs to respect the vote and sentiment in Scotland and include us in the thinking. What’s right for Scotland may not be what’s right for the rest of the UK. Nicola Sturgeon is elected to represent her people and Scotland’s best interests! We would expect no less.
