Building company expands Fife office after agreeing new council contract

0 Graham Duncan, Richardson & Starling’s managing director Building preservati­on company Richardson & Starling has expanded its Fife business in a move that has created six jobs.

Following the renewal of a multi-year preservati­on contract from Fife Council, the company has doubled the floor space of its Kirkcaldy office by purchasing a building adjacent to its premises on Mitchelsto­n Industrial Estate.

The business has also recruited six staff, bringing the total number of employees working out of the base to 25.

Managing director Graham Duncan said: “As part of our commitment to the region and to this contract we have invested heavily in additional premises while also extensivel­y refurbishi­ng our existing office.

“We now have 2,000 sq ft of office space and have recruited one new property surveyor, an administra­tor and four new technician­s.”

The renewed agreement with Fife Council includes carrying out preservati­on works to all social housing and public buildings across the kingdom for the next three years.

This latest expansion comes one week after the Cambuslang-based firm announced a new office in Inverness, which created seven jobs and took the company’s branch network to 13 across Scotland and the north of England.

Richardson & Starling is the largest company within the Veitchi Group and has been providing preservati­on services since 1935.
