Inverness Caley Thistle Youths leave sour taste

- Lynne Macdonald

It hasn’t been the best week for Caley Thistle – a frustrating draw with Ayr on Saturday, and crashing out of the Irn Bru Cup on Tuesday. As holders this was disappointing.

But the dominant news of the week was the abusive chants towards Liam Polworth and a family member by a small, but vocal, group of young fans. The club have acted swiftly in identifying and banning the culprits but it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. For several seasons we, as well as other clubs I suspect, have had issues with the behaviour of the so called “young team”. Whilst it is important that we continue to grow a young support as a club it is disappointing that the era of self-policing is past and has now become a problem to all at the club.
