Please describe where you’re living this month.

In a flat so central we should have known everything else would be awful. We’re on our third TV, second kitchen fire, fourth hour-long fire alarm and we’ve had one four-hour emergency cleaning session provided to stop us catching plague. The house backs on to the extractor fan from a pub, so the whole thing constantly smells like chips. It’s pretty glamorous.

What’s your favourite place in the city and why? The Grassmarket – the view up to the castle (especially when the Tattoo is on) and the height of the buildings up West Bow. That’s a special place.

Who do you most like spending time with at the festival?

I love to see my husband every day (he’s in The Noise Next Door). It’s the one month we’re not both racing round other cities. I also like watching all the female comedians I don’t often get to share bills with.

Where can I find you at 9am, 9pm and 2am? 9am: Bed forever. 9pm: Hopefully doing a weirdly themed show in a dank cave.

2am: On the sofa with gin.

Tell us something about you that would surprise people.

I have an allotment and I love growing courgettes. I also have a baby pigeon living on my balcony.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Make tea. No day can or should commence without tea.

What’s the last thing you do before you go to bed at night?

I like to tuck my ipod in my pillow and listen to two funny guys on The Complete Guide to Everything podcast until I drift off to sleep.

Thanks for the interview! I’d like to buy you a drink. Where are we going and what are we drinking?

I’ll have an espresso martini and I’ll go anywhere I won’t have to make small talk with strangers. Let’s go!
