Council to phase out disposable plastic utensils
Disposable plastic cutlery, cups and straws are to be phased out of council use in Fife in an attempt to reduce the impact of pollution on the environment. The announcement comes after members of the environment, protective services & community safety committee agreed to support a move away from single-use plastics, which are contributing to a worldwide build-up of debris that can harm wildlife and takes centuries to break down. The main single-use items used across the council are plastic cups and lids, bottles, cutlery and food packaging.
