Imminent run of daunting fixtures against Premiership’s big four holds no fear for Wright

Tommy Wright: Tough games. Tommy Wright is refusing to heap extra pressure on his St Johnstone side before facing Dundee, despite a daunting run of fixtures coming into view.

The Perth outfit welcome Neil Mccann’s Dark Blues to Mcdiarmid today before travelling to face Hamilton Accies next week.

But the potential for Saints to pick up points in the weeks following that double-header could narrow as the fixture list has then thrown up a daunting run of matches against Aberdeen, Rangers, Celtic and Hearts, all before the end of September.

Wright, though, is backing his side to compete with the Ladbrokes Premiership big guns.

He told the St Johnstone website: “A lot of people have made reference to the run of games we have coming up but my focus is entirely on Dundee.

“Every club in this league will go through a run of tough games at some stage in the season and we’re no different. People may look at it and say we have to get points against Dundeeandhamiltonbecause we have Aberdeen, Rangers, Hearts and Celtic to come but I don’t see it that way at all.

“Every game we play I think we can win it. And I won’t look any further ahead than one game at a time starting this weekend. After that, we’ll switch our attention to Hamilton and so on.

“Confidence is high in the camp because we’ve been performing well and we’ll be lookingtokeepthoseperformance levels high when Dundee visit here tomorrow.”
