Temple fire raiser appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged over two fires at a Sikh temple and Methodist church in Edinburgh.

The alleged incidents happened at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib in Sheriff Brae and the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church in Junction Place on Tuesday.

Paul Johnson, 49, was arrested by police and appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday charged with fire-raising and wilful fireraisin­g to danger of life.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
