Investigation after body found in river

Police are investigating after a man’s body was recovered from a river.

Emergency services were called to the River Esk in the Marykirk area of Aberdeenshire at about 2:15pm yesterday following a report of concern for a man in the water.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is being treated as unexplained and police are investigating.

Police said there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
