Mature apology

I would like to apologise wholeheartedly to John Coutts, who rightly calls me out on ageism (Letters 31st August). My letter condemning the celibate Pope for suggesting gay young people need psychiatric help, on reconsideration, did indeed seem to comment negatively on the sexuality of all older people.
