Currys owner to be quizzed over breach
Currys and PC World owner Dixons Carphone will reveal its latest trading update and prepare to face shareholders later this week in the wake of a massive data breach.
The group, which is due to hold its annual meeting for shareholders in London on Thursday, has so far given no indication of any financial impact of the attack.
Directors including new chief executive Alex Baldock are likely to be quizzed about the incident by shareholders at the meeting.
Aside from the recent breach, the company’s firstquarter trading update may reveal a boost to television sales from the World Cup.
Andrew Porteous, a retail analyst at HSBC, said: “Overall market conditions appear to have been relatively dull and have remained tough, as was flagged at the last update.
“The World Cup will have been a small boost, as will the warmer weather in July, when it was reported that fans sold out in many countries.”
Analysts are expecting flat UK and Ireland like-for-like sales for the first quarter.
