Whistle-stop tour: Jeremy Corbyn speaks with commuters during a day out on the train
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn speaks with passengers on board a train to Leeds from Manchestervictoriastationas he toured the north of England by rail yesterday. Mr Corbyn, who posed for dozens of selfies with commuters, is proposing a “Crossrail for the North” linking England’s north-east and north-west via a new rail line. He also voiced his support for keeping guards on trains amid with proposals for driver-only services. Mr Corbyn started his day at Liverpool Lime Street before travelling to Manchester, Leeds and Hull as Labour hit out at what the party dubbed “Tory rail mayhem”.
