Viagogo to back down over price information

- By JANE BRADLEY

Secondary ticketing site Viagogo has bowed to pressure from the Advertising Standards Authority to change information provided to consumers on its website.

The site, which has come under fire for selling on tickets for concerts and events at hugely inflated prices, said its pricing information will now be made clear with one single price, containing both VAT and the compulsory booking fee, quoted upfront at the start of the transaction.

A spokesman said: “This outcome follows the ASA’S ruling that viagogo was misleading consumers by not being upfront and clear about additional booking fees and VAT that were added throughout the booking process. Since then, the ASA has worked with viagogo to bring about these material changes to its website.”
