Macklin Motors owner Vertu on steady track

- By SCOTT REID

Vertu, the car dealership group that runs the Macklin Motors brand north of the Border, has reported stable trading since its annual shareholder meeting in July.

The group, which has a network of 125 sales and aftersales outlets across the UK, said it continued to trade in line with the trends set out in its AGM update and in line with the board’s expectations.

The brief trading update comes against a backdrop of challenging conditions for UK new car sales with diesel models in particular being shunned by motorists. Sales of nearly new and used cars have held up well, however.

Vertu is due to announce its results for the six months ended 31 August on 10 October. The firm also announced yesterday that Andrew Goss had been appointed as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect.

Goss has held senior roles in Citroen UK, Nissan, Lexus, Toyota, Porsche and most recently Jaguar Land Rover.
