Renewi sells holding in Scottish bio waste plant

Renewi, the listed wasteto-productgro­up,hascomplet­ed its exit from the UK organics sector following the sale of its stake in an anaerobic digestion facility located in Cumbernaul­d.

The firm said it had sold its 50 per cent share in the Energen Biogas facility to Bio Capital, which is owned by Helios, Equitix and Aurium Capital.

Bio Capital has recently been establishe­d to own and operate a number of anaerobic digestion plants within the UK and Ireland. All employees at the Cumbernaul­d facility will transfer across to Energen Biogas.

James Priestley of Renewi said: “I am pleased that we have completed our planned exit from the UK organics sector.”
