The return of the weekly grilling of Nicola Sturgeon was marked by a fiery First Minister’s Questions session at Holyrood. Ms Sturgeon was pressed on a number of issues, including helping victims of crime, a recent hate crime in Edinburgh, and the use of social media app Yammer by children.

@Anassarwar noted: “.@ kezdugdale rightly raises the attack on the Edinburgh Gurdwara. Strong message of solidarity with the Sikh community from @ Nicolasturgeon & members across the chamber. No place for hate.”

@Bbcphilipsim reported: “Neil Findlay calling for clampdown on use of mesh implants after Scotsman story about it being listed as an underlying cause of a woman’s death; FM says case will be given “very careful consideration”, use of mesh suspended outside of exceptional circumstances.”

@Mballantynemsp claimed: “The @SNP say drug driving is a health priority yet they’ve delayed introducing any legislation for a year. The Government might find the Oxford English Dictionary definition to be useful as they are clearly confused about the meaning of ‘priority.’”

Donald Trump dominated much of the news agenda after the publication of an anonymous article in the New York Times purporting to be from a senior White House official who said they interfere with the President’s work.

@Billoreilly wrote:

“By lashing back at the anonymous NYT article, Donald Trump makes it much more important than it is. He should have ignored it. But he doesn’t ignore anything.”

@Rbrharrison speculated: “Ok, my bet on motive for anonymous Trump article in NYT: timing with Woodward book not coincidence – people likely to leave soon, identity of this individual will come out, and this is part of laundering reputations for the future.”

@Eugenegu tweeted: “The New York Times is taking an incredible risk publishing an anonymous article from within the Trump administration. It’s unprecedented, shocking, but absolutely necessary. This isn’t for clicks and views but to save our democracy. Thank you NYT, for your bravery.”

@Crankwesi added: “My guess on the author? VP Mike Pence.”
