Veitchi Flooring lands fit-out work up north

- By SCOTT REID

Veitchi Flooring has landed twin contracts worth almost £1.9 million for major construction projects taking place in the north of Scotland.

The Cambuslang-based firm, part of the Veitchi Group, was brought on board by Robertson Construction – the main contractor at both the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) and NHS Orkney Hospital.

With a combined contract value in the order of £1.85m, Veitchi will provide 15,500 square metres and 13,000 sq m of flooring, respectively.

The types of flooring include carpet tiles, vinyl and matting and have required some 30 fitters to carry out the work.

Veitchi Flooring’s managing director Gordon Crawford said: “These are large scale contracts which require a financial capability from the sub-contractor to resource the materials and labour in advance in order to properly service them.”

The Veitchi Group employs 332 staff across 12 offices.
