Princes Des Sables sticks her neck out to repel Attack

- By GORDON BROWN

Princes Des Sables was a gutsy winner of the £20,000 BB Foodservice 2-Y-O Series Final and Yes You in the EBF Stallions Flower Of Scotland Fillies’ Handicap at Hamilton Park last night.

Completing a hat-trick of course and distance wins, Kevin Ryan’s ultra-consistent filly battled right to the line to beat Lightning Attack by a neck.

Winning jockey Shane Gray said: “She travelled so well that I probably got there a little too soon. But she’s battled. She’s tough and it’s like riding a little colt. She doesn’t seem to mind the ground and has enough speed to even drop back to five furlongs.”

The other feature race, the EBF Stallions Flower Of Scotland Fillies’ Handicap, saw a classy performance from William Haggas-trained Beauty Filly.

Danny Tudhope, who rode the 5-2 second favourite, said: “She was a little bit keen but otherwise gave me a great feel. This trip of six furlongs suits her perfectly.”

Today, Lord Yeats can provide Jedd O’keeffe with his biggest winner on the Flat in the Doncaster Cup.

Winner of a big handicap at York and a Listed race at New market last season, lord Yeats has slightly struggled upped in class.

However, there was plenty of promise in his run when fifth in a French Group Two and he ran better than 11th suggests in the Ebor last time out. The ground will have been much faster than he appreciates at York, so rain earlier in the week at Doncaster was welcome.
