City’s perfect record intact as Henderson fires a brace

Table-topping Edinburgh City won for the fourth game running when they defeated visitors Annan Athletic 2-1, in-form striker Blair Henderson grabbing both their goals.

Two minutes before the break he shot past Jonny Jamieson and then headed in a cross ten minutes from time.

Ryan Sinnamon’s freekick made the final seven minutes interestin­g but City held on, and manager James Mcdonagh said: “We are enjoying where we are. However, we know it will take a lot of hard work to stay there.”

Peterhead are second after coming from behind twice to win 4-2 at Cowdenbeat­h, Williegibs­on scoringthe­irfourth goal from his own half.

Jason Talbot scored for the hosts on ten minutes after Jordyn Sheerin had been denied, but Mick Dunlop quickly levelled from close range.

Robbie Buchanan nodded the Blue Brazil back in front, but early in the second half Derek Lyle tied the scores again. Rory Mcallister backheeled the Balmoor men into the lead and Gibson, pictured, sealed the win when he spotted goalkeeper David Mcgurn off his line and sent a longrange free-kick over his head and into the net.

Clyde claimed a 1-0 win over pointless Albion Rovers through Martin Mcniff, who drilled home a John Rankin cross.

Stirling Albion are up to seventh after a 1-0 win over Queen’s Park at Forthbank where Ross Mcgeachie headed over goalkeeper Jordan Hart on 12 minutes. Jordan Allan came close to a second with a fierce 30-yard drive that struck the woodwork.

Berwick Rangers slumped 3-0 at home to Elgin City, defender Jordan Orru setting the tone when he directed the ball into his own net. On-loan Ross County striker Greg Morrison scored twice before the break to ensure the points headed north.
