#LIBDEMCONF

Vince Cable’s pre-released extracts of his conference speech said he would mock Brexiteers for having an “erotic spasm” over leaving the EU. However, when it actually came to saying the expression during his speech, the Lib Dem leader instead said the likes of Boris Johnson had experienced an “exotic spresm”.

@liamyoung wrote: “As if the idea of Vince Cable uttering the words ‘erotic spasm’ wasn’t bad enough, I can’t quite believe he got it wrong and blurted out ‘exotic spresm’. Genuinely baffling that the Lib Dems actually still exist.”

@welshlad79 said: “Reminder, Vince Cable only became Lib Dem leader because no one else wanted the job, also missed a crucial #Brexit vote to discuss joining another party.”

@_joebelcher added: “Vince Cable managed to alienate Leavers and Labour supporters, and anyone who identifies as Left or Right. His target audience appears to be anyone without any real passion for politics and hard Remainers. Very small pool. How to make friends the Lib Dem way.”

@Scarynewdad said: “Labour are doing a damn sight more to sort out the Tory/lib Dem mess that is Brexit than old man Vince Cable and Tim Farron, both of whom didn’t even bother turning up for a crucial vote. They let their supporters down as Lib Dem leaders always will.”

#STORMALI

Storm Ali is forecast to batter a swathe of central Scotland tomorrow with winds up to 80mph.

@Anniewellsmsp stated: “Much of Scotland is due to be battered by high winds and heavy rain tomorrow as Storm Ali sweeps in with Glasgow at the heart of the amber zone. Travel disruption is expected and there is a warning of injuries and danger to life from flying debris.”

@Annasmithwrites said: “I’m flying to Scotland tomorrow. Hey, Storm Ali, if you could, you know, take a break around lunchtime, that’d be awesome, alright?”

@ali_wright joked: “Finally! My own storm. So proud! Stay safe peeps!”

@dub_sided added: “So Scotland has a warning for storm Ali today. I wonder how many times round the alphabet we have to go naming storms in such a small time frame for sceptics to realise that there is such a thing as climate change and the planet is kinda screwed.”
