Vince Cable’s pre-released extracts of his conference speech said he would mock Brexiteers for having an “erotic spasm” over leaving the EU. However, when it actually came to saying the expression during his speech, the Lib Dem leader instead said the likes of Boris Johnson had experienced an “exotic spresm”.

Storm Ali is forecast to batter a swathe of central Scotland tomorrow with winds up to 80mph.
