A suggestion
Anent the continuing debate about standardised testing of P1 pupils, I note in newspaper reports that John Swinney “accused opposition politicians of being ‘ill-informed’ and hypocritical” and called for a “fact-based debate” on the issue. (“Swinney set to ignore MSPS on ‘political’ P1 tests vote”, 17 September).
Perhaps the best way to deal effectively with the “illinformed” aspect of this issue might be for Mr Swinney to invite members of his International Council of Education Advisers to give evidence to Holyrood’s Education Committee, when an authoritative, non-party-political “factbased” debate might be had. Just a suggestion.
