Labour tears up members’ rulebook
Labour MPS should not expect to have a job for life, party members have said as splits emerged over changes to the party’s rulebook.
A proposal designed to make it easier to deselect sitting MPS was among changes approved by the ruling National Executive Committee (NEC) ahead of the party’s conference.
But several members from Labour branches voiced their opposition to the plan, arguing it did not go far enough in giving activists the chance to have a say in who represents them at parliamentary elections.
