Politeness, please
I was disappointed in James Macintyre’s use of words (Letter, 28 September). It is right to haveadiscussiononimmigration and the criteria for giving asylum, but this must be done in a reasoned and non-prejudicial way. In my experience, and in keeping up to date with the reporting of such issues, there is no evidence that there
or ever has been, significant numbers of immigrants being rapists, child molesters etc as he describes.
May I quote Mr Macintyre replying to a correspondent last week in our local press. “May I remind him that letters to the editor should be factual, informative, topical and most of all polite.” I leave your readers to judge if his own letter fulfils these criteria.
