Another cornerstone
of the Scottish Government’s farming and rural policy will be revealed today when The National Council of Rural Advisers releases its final report.
Described as a blueprint for Scotland’s rural economy, the recommendations made by the group call for proper recognition of the strategic importance of the rural economy – and for steps to be taken to ensure that this is factored into all policy and decisionmaking processes. The report also recommends developing an interim rural economic framework to provide a structure for the development and implementation of a new approach to rural policy along with the creation of a rural economy action group which would be acccountable for ensuring the implementation
